It’s another weekend of football action and it promises to be an exciting one for football fans as major European leagues are set to resume. From England’s Premier League to Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A, Germany’s Bundesliga, and France’s Ligue 1, the top teams in each league will be battling it out for crucial points. So, let us take a look at some of the standout matches in the English Premier league.

Aston Villa vs Arsenal

Venue: Villa Park

Time: 1:30 PM

The weekend’s early kickoff will see Arsenal visit Aston Villa at Villa Park. The gunners risk giving Manchester City the edge in the title race if they are unable to go win, as they have not won in the Premier league since they beat Manchester United on January 22. They had lost to Everton and drawn against Brentford since, and lost to current leaders Manchester City in midweek, to give the Citizens some joy in the title race.

Coincidentally, Aston Villa’s last loss was also to Manchester City and Unai Emery and co will be looking to compound Arsenal’s woes at Villa Park. This game promises to be an entertaining one as both teams will be looking to get back to winning ways.

Brentford vs Crystal Palace

Venue: GTech Community Stadium

Time: 4:00 PM

Brentford are unbeaten in four matches and will be looking to make it 5 on the bounce when they host Crystal Palace at the Gtech Community Stadium later today.

On their part, Patrick Viera’s men drew Brighton on their home turf last time out and will hope to avoid a defeat at Brentford today.

Brighton vs Fulham

Venue: Amex Community Stadium

Time: 4:00 PM

In a battle between the 6th and 7th teams on the Premier League table, Brighton will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they host Fulham in what promises to be one of the weekend’s fiercest battles.

Fulham on their part will be looking to continue their winning run after getting the better of Nothingham Forest last time out.

Chelsea vs Southampton

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Time: 4:00 PM

Graham Potter’s men are under immense pressure and rightly so. Despite their recent spending under the new ownership, the Blues continue to underperform and are under the microscope now more than ever.

They played three back-to-back draws in the Premier League before going down to a super goal by Karim Adeyemi in their Champions League loss to Dortmund in midweek. That is the kind of performance that they expect from their big money buys, but they have all failed to impress so far.

Southampton are however bottom of the Premier League table and should prove easy for Chelsea to beat. The Saints have lost their three matches and will be eager to avoid another defeat if they are to climb out of the drop zone.

Everton vs Leeds

Venue: Goodison Park

Time: 4:00 PM

Everton will be hosting Leeds United, the side directly above them on the table, in what promises to be another mouth-watering Premier League encounter.

Leeds have gone nine league games without a win and will be hoping that they can get back to winning ways today.

Nottingham vs Manchester City

Venue: City Ground

Time: 4:00 PM

Manchester City went back to the top of the Premier League table after beating Arsenal at the Emirates. Arsenal still have a game in hand and may still edge three points clear of City if they win that game, but there are strong hopes now in City’s camp that they can really snatch this title from the Gunners. So, beating Nottingham today will be a step in that direction.

Nottingham are unbeaten at home in seven league games and will be hooping that this run continues if they are to beat the drop this season. But, can they hold their own against the Premier League’s most dangerous team? Time will tell!

Wolves vs Bournemouth

Venue: Molineux Stadium

Time: 4:00 PM

Wolves have recently climbed out of the drop zone and are currently 15th on the Premier League table. And they will be hoping to build on their resurgence by beating Bournemouth at the Molineux today.

Bournemouth are currently where Wolves used to be, and must find a response if they must stay up this season. They are 19th in the table and drew their last match against Newcastle, but will be looking for a win today to boost their chances of staying in the Premier League.

Newcastle vs Liverpool

Venue: St. James’ Park

Time: 6:30 PM

Are we finally seeing Liverpool’s renaissance? They defeated Everton last time out in the Merseyside derby, but it’s difficult to gauge how they would fare against Newcastle.

Unbeaten in the league since August 2022, Newcastle could prove be a stern test for Liverpool. But, it remains to be seen how things will an out.

Sunday Fixtures

Manchester United vs Leicester

Venue: Old Trafford

Time: 6:30 PM

Manchester United are back at Old Trafford to battle Brendan Rodgers men for another three points. ETH has revitalized United since he took the reins and with Marcus Rashford in the form of his life, the Red Devils have a real chance here.

Leicester have won their last two Premier League games and will be looking to continue that run at Old Trafford.

Tottenham vs West Ham

Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Time: 5:30 PM

This promises to be another exciting London derby as Tottenham and West Ham rekindle their fierce rivalry.

Tottenham have lost twice since they beat Manchester City on February 5. They were destroyed at the King Power Stadium last weekend before losing to Milan in the Champions League in midweek. And with head coach Antonio Conte still out as he recovers from his gall bladder surgery, it is difficult to predict how Tottenham will fare in this match.

West Ham drew Chelsea in their last match, with former Blues player, Emerson scoring the equalizer. They remain just above the drop zone though and will be looking to win at Tottenham to secure their position.
