The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has received a group of Polish investors as well as several dignitaries, including the Chairman of ZGM Investment Group, Dr. Abbey Onas, ZGM Brand Communications Manager, Hajia Madinat Adigun-Oladotun; and Principal Private Secretary, Mrs. Oluwakemi Olusanya
The Chamber hosted the Polish investors and the dignitaries to an interactive session at which some LCCI representatives educated the Polish investors about the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of ZGM Investment Group, Dr. Abbey Onas, emphasized the ease of investing in Nigeria, stressing that Polish investors should encourage other foreigners to invest in Nigeria. The ZGM boss said: “I have the opportunity to engage some investors from Poland through the ambassador, Polish ambassador to Nigeria. Having said that, we are here and the main objective of being here is to let them feel at home, comfortable, and to have a very positive mind going back and to encourage other investors to come to Nigeria.
In his speech about the portrayal of Nigeria by the Polish media, Dr. Onas noted that he was able to encourage them to project Nigeria positively.
“When I was there, I was able to convince the media that they should not be portraying Nigeria as a bad place. We are welcoming people who are highly educated and friendly. I used the opportunity also to introduce our free trade zone, and with all the incentives that our government has encouraged. So, you are here today to meet the right people that can give you the courage to support the advice. I think this is something that is really necessary for you to take back home,” said Dr. Onas.
Affirming the trade ties between Nigeria and Poland, an LCCI representative was quoted: “We are close allies with Poland. We’ve enjoyed very conducive relationships, discussing trade and how we can improve the balance of trade between the two countries. Thank you for organizing this. Whenever your role in the free trade zone is mentioned, it points to the fact that you are one of those who are passionate about trade in Nigeria, passionate about the small businesses and how they can grow and engage in international trade.”
The LCCI representative further stressed the essence of foreign investment in Nigeria, emphasizing that everyone should be interested in Africa especially as there is a huge market here that needs to be tapped into, a huge market that needs to be supported with investment, and that investment can yield very great dividends.
