The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26 and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on Monday. Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his greetings to all Nigerians and encouraged everyone to embrace the season’s spirit of love, peace and unity. “This season is a time for reflection and renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, let us show kindness and goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences,” he said. He also called on Nigerians to strengthen family and community ties, emphasizing that such harmony contributes to national growth and development. 

The minister reassured citizens of the government’s commitment to ensuring peace, security and prosperity throughout the country.
He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would pave the way for a more prosperous and unified Nigeria in 2025.
