President Bola Tinubu has emphasized that African nations are on a steady path to eradicating poverty and strengthening democracy. Speaking at the inauguration of Ghana’s newly elected President, John Mahama, in Accra, Tinubu urged critics to acknowledge the strides African countries like Nigeria and Ghana have made in governance.
“We have proven our commitment to democracy and need no further validation,” Tinubu said. “Africa will continue to develop at its own pace, lifting its people out of poverty and building resilient economies.”
Highlighting the significance of Ghana’s democratic transition, Tinubu noted that it symbolizes Africa’s ability to sustain productive and democratic governance. He lauded the legacy of leaders like Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, whose vision of unity and progress remains a guiding light for the continent.
Tinubu also expressed optimism about the partnership between Nigeria and Ghana, committing to deeper collaboration under President Mahama’s leadership.
The Nigerian President pledged continued support for Ghana, emphasizing the strong bond between the two nations. “We are brothers and sisters, united by a shared history and a collective future. Together, we can achieve greater prosperity for our people.”
Tinubu concluded with a message of hope for the continent, calling for unity, resilience and a shared commitment to progress.
