Timileyin Ajayi, 32, has admitted to killing 24 years old Salome Adaidu, an NYSC member serving with Nicon Insurance in Abuja, citing infidelity as his motive. Ajayi was caught with her severed head and has been remanded in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia.
Speaking to Channels TV, Ajayi said, “I killed her because she was cheating on me. I found chats with other men on her phone. It wasn’t premeditated; it happened in the moment. I have no regrets because I believe life is reciprocal.”
Salome’s family has denied any relationship between her and the suspect. Her elder sister, Esther Adaidu, stated, “We don’t know this so-called Timi. We only learned about him after being informed of our sister’s gruesome murder. We demand justice for what he has done.”
Her uncle, Samson Adaidu, also called for swift action, saying, “He butchered our daughter into over 50 pieces and stored them in polythene bags. It was a horrific act and we expect the police to deliver justice.”
The Nasarawa State Police Command has assured the public of a thorough investigation. Police spokesperson SP Ramhan Nansel stated, “The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will be prosecuted upon its conclusion. We encourage anyone with additional complaints against him to come forward.”
Salome was reportedly visiting Ajayi at his residence in New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, when the incident occurred. The police have vowed not to spare Ajayi if found guilty, ensuring justice for Salome and her family.
