Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, arrived in Ilorin yesterday for a three-day visit to Kwara State, where she inaugurated several key projects.

She landed at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport at 10:45 a.m. and proceeded to the Kwara State University of Education to open an ICT Community Centre. The project was built by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in collaboration with her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

Senator Tinubu also commissioned an ultra-modern Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Dr. Amuda Aluko Ward, two major healthcare projects by Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq. Over the next two days, she will unveil additional projects, including two flyovers named after Emir Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and Gen. Tunde Idiagbon. She will also conduct the groundbreaking ceremony for the Oluremi Tinubu Hospital and tour other landmark projects such as the Innovation Hub, Visual Arts Centre, and Garment Factory.

Later on Tuesday, the First Lady was honored at a state dinner hosted by Governor AbdulRazaq at the newly renovated Flower Garden. She was accompanied by the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, and welcomed by top dignitaries, including Governor AbdulRazaq and his wife, Ambassador Olufolake AbdulRazaq, as well as Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, First Ladies from across Nigeria, federal and state lawmakers, and other prominent figures.

At the ICT project inauguration, Senator Tinubu praised Governor AbdulRazaq and his wife for their commitment to youth and women empowerment. She highlighted the importance of ICT in bridging barriers and creating new opportunities. She revealed that NITDA has so far built four Community ICT Centres, with more projects set for commissioning in Benue, Oyo, and other states.

Governor AbdulRazaq described the ICT centre as a significant step in preparing young Nigerians for the digital era. He expressed gratitude to the First Lady and the Renewed Hope Initiative for their investment in education and technology.

The First Lady later visited the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, who offered prayers for President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq, and other leaders.

As part of her visit, she also led the distribution of food support to vulnerable individuals under the Renewed Hope Initiative and ASR Initiative, an effort commended by the Governor as a much-needed intervention.
