The Federal Government is developing a “Diaspora City” to encourage investment and strengthen connections between Nigerians abroad and their homeland. The Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, announced this on Monday during the launch of the Motherland 2025 initiative in Abuja.

The Motherland 2025 project aims to celebrate Nigeria’s cultural heritage and attract global engagement. Musawa stated that the government is not just promoting tourism but actively investing in projects that drive economic growth and community development.

She emphasized that the initiative is designed to position Nigeria as the hub of global Black and African culture, commerce, and creativity. The event will offer immersive experiences through state pavilions, exhibitions, and cultural showcases, highlighting the country’s rich traditions and business opportunities.

As part of the program, the Motherland Ambassador Awards will recognize outstanding Nigerians in the diaspora for their contributions across various fields.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Discover Motherland Africa, Chidinma Nwankwo, described the initiative as a transformative movement that reconnects Nigerians abroad with their roots while creating investment opportunities and promoting cultural pride.
