The Kwara State Government has taken a significant step toward converting the International Aviation College, Ilorin, into a full fledged aerospace university. A delegation from the Federal Ministry of Aviation visited on Thursday to assess the proposed upgrade.

Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mary Arinde, confirmed this during a meeting with the visiting panel at the ministry’s conference hall in Ilorin. She emphasized Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to advancing education, especially in specialized fields like aviation and aerospace.

“This transformation is a bold move to position Nigeria as a key player in the global aviation industry,” Arinde stated. She highlighted the college’s strong foundation in training world class pilots and aviation professionals and assured the delegation of the state’s full support for the transition.

Team lead from the Federal Ministry of Aviation, Mallam Lawal Ibrahim, commended the state government for its vision and investment in education. He also assured a fair assessment of the college’s potential upgrade.

The Rector of the Aviation College, Capt. Okatahi Yakubu, expressed gratitude to the governor for his foresight and thanked the visiting team for their assessment.
