The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed reports that bandits fleeing Zamfara State have relocated to Kwara.

In a statement on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, speaking for the Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, described the claims as false and misleading. She stated that there was no intelligence or operational report confirming the presence of bandits in any part of Kwara.

The denial follows a social media report on Sunday alleging that armed bandits had moved to Banni, a town in Kaiama Local Government Area. The police command urged the public to disregard the claim, calling it an attempt to spread unnecessary panic.

The statement reassured residents that security agencies had increased surveillance across the state to prevent any threats. The Commissioner of Police also reaffirmed that Kwara remains safe and that security forces are prepared to respond to any concerns.

The public was advised to verify information before sharing and to avoid spreading unverified reports.
