A fire broke out early Tuesday at the Alagbede Tipper Garage in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State, destroying three out of 42 parked trucks.
According to the Kwara State Fire Service, the fire started around 1:45 a.m. from a waste collection truck that had smoldering charcoal inside. The flames spread to two other trucks before firefighters arrived and contained the fire.
Hassan Adekunle, Head of Media and Publicity for the Fire Service, confirmed that a distress call was received at 1:35 a.m and firefighters quickly responded to prevent further damage.
Prince Falade John, Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, urged the public to follow strict fire safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
In a separate incident on Monday, a fire damaged a shop at No. 1 Awolowo Road, Tanke, Ilorin. The fire, which started from a solar battery, was quickly contained by firefighters, preventing it from spreading to a neighboring shop.
The Fire Service advised residents to ensure solar power systems are installed in well ventilated areas to reduce fire risks.
