The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the upcoming First Quarter Capital Market Committee meeting, set for May 19 in Victoria Island, Lagos. The meeting will focus on the implementation of the Investments and Securities Act 2025, enhancing investor awareness and strategies to promote capital market growth, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a statement issued on Monday, the SEC highlighted that the meeting will bring together key stakeholders in Nigeria’s capital market, including operators, trade groups, investment advisers, fund managers and custodians. The session aims to assess the current regulatory environment and develop strategies to attract investments, improve market efficiency and protect investors.

The discussions will address critical issues impacting the market, including the activities of unregistered investment schemes. Participants will also explore ways to better educate Nigerians about available capital market products. The SEC added that reports from technical committees, market infrastructure and industry observers will be reviewed to guide the discussions on emerging market trends and regulatory reforms.
