The Kwara State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in connection with the tragic death of a two-month-old baby, Adam Tahiru, who was found inside a domestic well in Ilorin.

Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, disclosed the arrests on Saturday during a press briefing in Ilorin. He said the suspects are being interrogated by the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over allegations of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

According to the police, the incident occurred on May 25, 2025, when the baby’s mother, Aishat Tahiru of Maiduku Area, Zango, Ilorin, reported her child missing after she left him asleep while observing evening prayers. Despite an immediate search by neighbours, the baby could not be found.

The case was transferred to the State CID on May 27 for deeper investigation. Sadly, the baby’s lifeless body was later discovered in a well within the same community.

CP Ojo confirmed that eight suspects have been arrested based on intelligence and initial findings. He assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that justice will be pursued.
