Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Motunrayo Adeleye, has called for stronger collaboration among South-West states to address gender disparity, empower women, and strengthen families.

Speaking in Abeokuta at the Pre-Council Workshop for South-West Women Affairs Ministries held in preparation for the 25th National Council of Women Affairs in Edo,Adeleye described the event as a platform for collective action and policy alignment.

“At a time when gender disparities hinder progress, this forum allows for dialogue and experience-sharing to shape impactful outcomes,” she said.

Adeleye highlighted Ogun’s efforts in inclusive governance, gender equity, and support for vulnerable groups, but stressed that progress requires regional cooperation. She urged participants to engage meaningfully and develop actionable plans.

Also speaking, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs Permanent Secretary Dr. Maryam Keshinro, represented by Ameh Esther, said the forum aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda and the presidential mandate for women, children, and the vulnerable.

Ogun’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs Adejumoke Adewole, added that the workshop provides a space to reflect on progress made, citing the state’s proactive steps like appointing Gender Desk Officers and creating referral systems for gender-based violence survivors.
