Bulk fuel consumers and filling stations are abandoning middlemen as Dangote Refinery begins free direct delivery of petrol.

NARTO President, Yusuf Othman, raised concerns that the scheme threatens existing contracts between truck owners and bulk buyers, warning that over 30,000 trucks could be rendered idle. He called on the Federal Government and regulators to intervene, citing Section 212 of the PIA, which prohibits such practices.

Despite protests, Dangote has rolled out over 1,000 CNG-powered trucks to Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, Delta, Kwara, Edo, and South-West states, slashing petrol prices to N841–N851 per litre.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria confirmed that deliveries have already begun, with members welcoming the move as fuel costs drop from N865 to N841.
