President Bola Tinubu has thanked the people of Ibadan for supporting his presidential ambition, recalling his 2022 “Emi l’okan” declaration ahead of the 2023 elections.
Speaking at the coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan on Friday, Tinubu congratulated the new monarch and prayed for prosperity and peace in Ibadan. He said, “I once came here to seek your support with the words ‘Emi l’okan’, and today, we are there. Thank you very much.”
The president described Oba Ladoja’s ascension as a historic moment, wishing him a long and impactful reign. He also saluted former governors present at the ceremony, including Donald Duke, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Ibikunle Amosun, Ibrahim Shekarau, and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde praised the smooth succession process and said the new Olubadan’s reign would bring peace, unity, and progress to Ibadan and Oyo State.
