PDP chieftain Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim says the South West will not reward President Bola Tinubu’s poor performance by supporting his re-election in 2027. His movement’s coordinator, Alhaji Abass Olaniyi, said this while reacting to Reno Omokri’s call for the region to back Tinubu, describing it as “political deception.” “Our people are too conscious to reward hunger, poverty, and economic collapse with another mandate,” Olaniyi stated. He faulted the APC government’s record, noting that Nigeria’s GDP has dropped from $570 billion in 2014 to below $300 billion, with inflation and poverty worsening. Olaniyi dismissed claims of economic growth as “a mirage,” adding that Nigerians “don’t eat GDP statistics.” He described Olawepo-Hashim as a credible alternative with the vision to unite Nigeria, saying the South West is ready to lead change in 2027. “The region cannot tie its destiny to a sinking ship. Gbenga Hashim represents a new beginning,” he said.
