The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has launched a renewed campaign against land grabbers in Ibadan with the inauguration of a five-member committee to tackle the menace.

The committee includes Chief Niyi Akintola (SAN), Barr. Musibau Adetunbi (SAN), Yinka Okunade, Rahman Abiodun AbdulRaheem, and Tunji Thomas. In a statement by his media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, the monarch granted the team authority to engage experts in town planning, surveying, security, and the judiciary to aid their work.

Speaking during the inauguration, Oba Ladoja said the initiative reflects the joint commitment of the Oyo State Government and the Olubadan-in-Council to rid Ibadan of land grabbing, describing it as “a complex web of interests.” He urged the committee to begin work immediately and submit its report within 21 days.

The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, praised the move as timely, calling for the creation of anti-land-grabbing tribunals across all eleven local government areas in Ibadanland.

Responding, Chief Niyi Akintola (SAN) thanked the Olubadan for the confidence reposed in them and pledged that the committee would work closely with the Oyo State Government to end land-grabbing in the city.
