The Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, says Israel and Nigeria are committed to strengthening dialogue on peacebuilding and economic cooperation to promote sustainable development between both countries.

He spoke in Abuja at an event titled “Co-existence and Dialogue among Abrahamic Faiths,” organised by the Embassy of Israel in Nigeria in partnership with religious and humanitarian organisations.

Freeman emphasized that coexistence, unity, and mutual respect are essential for lasting peace. He noted that genuine coexistence goes beyond the absence of conflict,it requires empathy, dialogue, and shared purpose.

He explained that in Israel, Jews, Muslims, and Christians work, study, and live together, adding that although coexistence isn’t perfect, it is real and continually improving. He also expressed hope that more nations would join the Abraham Accords to expand peace and prosperity.

Freeman acknowledged that Nigeria has also faced painful challenges affecting both Christian and Muslim communities, stressing that lasting peace must start at the grassroots level,in homes, communities, schools, and places of worship.

He reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Nigeria in innovation, agriculture, education, and security, founded on shared values and mutual respect.

The event featured contributions from Christian, Islamic, and Jewish leaders who collectively called for youth engagement, grassroots dialogue, and a shared vision for peace and unity.
