Thirty-eight members of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke-Isegun, Eruku, in Ekiti LGA of Kwara State, abducted during a Thanksgiving service, have regained their freedom after five days in captivity.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced their release in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaiye. The state government credited the breakthrough to the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies, though details of the rescue remain unclear.

According to the statement, the victims were freed on November 23 after days of coordinated work by security forces and government representatives. The governor praised President Tinubu for personally leading the efforts.

The statement noted that the President cancelled his planned trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa to address the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States. He also ordered increased security deployments to Kwara.

The governor expressed appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the DSS, the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police, which deployed four new tactical teams to the state on the President’s directive. He also thanked security personnel, community leaders, religious institutions, and Kwarans for their support throughout the incident.
