At the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, on September 28, 2023, ZGM Investment Group, headed by Dr. Abbey Onas, held an interactive meeting with the team of Polish investors. The team had been on a series of trips to meet with important personalities and agencies necessary for business development in Nigeria.

During the session, the CEO of Basstion Fruit, Michał Biedrzycki, noted that the goal of the company is to begin an investment partnership in Nigeria with the aim of being the leading distributor of apples in the country in order to rival the South African competition. He displayed the types of packaging the fruits come in, which, according to him, could introduce a new standard to the market.

Dr. Abbey Onas assured Mr. Biedrzycki and the rest of the team that there is a procedure that will be used in screening the businesspeople who will handle and distribute the apples and other products of the investors according to the standards of the investors.

The Technical Director of ZGM, Architect Zakirudeen Oladotun, stated that the team’s trade mission in Nigeria is just beginning, and it is ZGM’s job to run the necessary checks and provide the team with feedback on the move of things.

Dr. Onas also indicated that the team’s introduction to the Nigerian Customs Service was pertinent in ensuring that their goods were transported to their specific locations in due time. He told the team that one of the sister companies of ZGM is a clearing agency that will take responsibility for the clearing of the investors’ commodities.

The Head of E-commerce at Ebury, a financial technology and foreign exchange company, Edyta Bednarek, expressed his desire for the company to be a leading competitor among foreign exchange businesses in Nigeria. While discussing the growth of fintech companies in Nigeria, architect Zakirudeen Oladotun said that the company could enjoy the benefit of local transactions in naira.

He also mentioned that Ebury’s international reach could play a huge role in providing a platform for transactions for Nigerians in the diaspora. He emphasized that the platform could be of great advantage to businesspeople in Nigeria. He further proposed a virtual meeting with the company so as to onboard ZGM with Ebury’s system.

Dr. Abbey Onas, the ZGM chairman, also highlighted that such a financial platform is what Nigeria currently needs.
