The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it received 573,519 applications for 3,927 job positions in just one week after opening its recruitment portal for the 2024/2025 exercise. This recruitment follows the Federal Government’s approval, confirmed earlier by Finance Minister Olawale Edun.
Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS National Public Relations Officer, provided a detailed breakdown of the applications across different cadres.
For the Superintendent Cadre (General Duty), 249,218 applications were submitted. The Support Staff Superintendent Cadre, requiring HNDs or university degrees, received 27,722 applications.
In the Inspector Cadre, 115,634 applicants applied for general duty roles, while 12,952 applied as support staff, using qualifications such as National Certificates in Education (NCE) or National Diplomas.
For the Customs Assistant Cadre, which requires secondary school certificates, 153,593 applied for general duty roles. Meanwhile, 14,400 applications came in for support staff positions.
The overwhelming response highlights the high demand for federal employment opportunities in Nigeria. The recruitment process will continue, with further updates expected as the selection progresses.
