President Bola Tinubu has emphasized the importance of unity for Nigeria’s development, using the natural confluence of Rivers Niger and Benue in Lokoja, Kogi State, as a metaphor for collective strength. Speaking at the Kogi Dialogue in Lokoja, an event marking Governor Usman Ododo’s first year in office, the President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, urged leaders to foster collaboration and reconciliation for national prosperity.

“The merging of these rivers symbolizes the power of unity where individual efforts combine to shape destinies. Leaders and citizens must come together to build a united and prosperous Nigeria,” Tinubu said.

The President praised Governor Ododo for initiating the Kogi Dialogue, describing it as a step toward bridging divides and promoting progress. He encouraged dialogue as a tool for resolving differences, noting that it is essential for justice, reconciliation and understanding.

Tinubu also urged political and community leaders to prioritize collective welfare over personal ambitions, stressing that unity is the only path to sustainable growth. Despite Nigeria’s current challenges, including economic and security pressures, the President called on citizens to see themselves as integral parts of the nation’s progress.
