The Kwara State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Bata, has praised local government councils in the state for going beyond just paying salaries and actively engaging in developmental projects.
During an inspection tour of five local government areas in the South Senatorial Zone, Bata expressed satisfaction with the progress made in various communities. He noted that the projects were designed to meet the specific needs of residents. The councils visited included Oke-Ero, Ekiti, Irepodun and Isin.
In a statement by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Oba Azeez, the Commissioner credited the transformation to the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has empowered local governments to drive meaningful development.
At Irepodun Local Government, the inspection team reviewed several key projects. These included the ongoing construction of staff quarters at Ajasse-Ipo Cottage Hospital, the installation of a motorized borehole near the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo’s Palace and the construction of 14 lock up shops at the Transport Park.
