The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Tuesday inaugurated the National Media Team for Hajj 2025 at its Conference Hall in Abuja.
Operations for the upcoming Hajj have been largely successful in Nigeria, with pilgrims of 12 states already airlifted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as of press time.
In his remarks at the brief inauguration ceremony, NAHCON Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, sued for fair and just reporting, acknowledging the important roles the media plays in Hajj operations and modeling of public opinions.
The Chairman charged journalists to do their job with fairness and justice.
“You tell the story of hajj to the world and help people see what is happening,” he said.
“We all know that the media is a very powerful tool. It can guide or manipulate the public. What you write, what you show, or what you say will have a great impact on the many people your story will reach.
“So, please do your work with fairness and justice, and above all, with the fear of Allah. Your job can help reveal the truth and also help the pilgrims stay informed.”
Prof. Usman revealed that over 30,000 Nigerian pilgrims have been successfully airlifted to Saudi Arabia.
He added that 12 states have so far completed their airlifting exercise.
The NAHCON Chairman appreciated journalists for their support and collaboration in the past Hajj operations.
The inauguration, meanwhile, held alongside orientation for members of the National Media Team.
