Lagos and parts of Ogun State will experience daily nine-hour power outages from July 28 to August 21, due to scheduled maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) confirmed the outage, which will last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, is necessary for upgrading the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.
ANED CEO, Sunday Oduntan, said the work will affect all of Lagos and areas in Ogun such as Sagamu, Ogijo, and Abeokuta.
The TCN said the upgrade, approved by NERC and the Nigeria Independent System Operator, will include installing Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) to improve real-time grid monitoring.
Though supply will resume each evening, Ikeja Electric and Eko Disco warned of intermittent supply and load shedding across their networks. They expressed regret over the inconvenience.
Oduntan assured that normal supply would return after the maintenance is completed.
