Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, says his administration is prioritising education for its socio-economic and intellectual benefits. Speaking in Igueben during the APC campaign tour of Edo Central Senatorial District ahead of Saturday’s by-election, he announced plans to revive the College of Education, Igueben, and a ₦1 billion bursary scheme for Edo indigenes in tertiary institutions.
He also welcomed decampees from other parties, including former Edo Assembly Speaker Friday Itula of the PDP.
Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, at the APC campaign flag-off in Ovia South West for the House of Representatives by-election, said the poll would test the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections. He urged members to mobilise for a landslide victory for APC candidate Omosede Igbinedion, the only female National Assembly candidate from Edo.
Idahosa noted that Governor Okpebholo has initiated infrastructural projects in the constituency to improve living standards. Igbinedion pledged to continue supporting development efforts in partnership with the APC leadership.
