Former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, has declared that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan will contest the 2027 presidential election on the PDP platform and reclaim the presidency.
Speaking after the PDP Niger State Congress in Minna, Gana said Nigerians, having experienced other leaders since 2015, now want Jonathan back. “I can confirm that Goodluck Jonathan will contest in 2027 as the PDP candidate, and we should be ready to vote him back,” he said.
He described the PDP as democratic and grassroots-driven, adding that internal disputes had been resolved in preparation for 2027. Gana urged Nigerians to “shine their eyes” and vote out the current administration for good governance.
At the congress, Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Halidu emerged chairman with 1,289 votes, defeating Zonal Chairman Yahaya Abdullahi, who scored 1,269. Khadi Kuta was returned as Secretary unopposed, while Salome Ndakosu won Woman Leader with 1,373 votes. In his acceptance speech, Halidu called for unity to ensure a PDP victory in 2027.
