ABUJA — Nigeria is set to benefit from over $40 trillion provided by global development partners and humanitarian organisations to support developing nations in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Institute of Negotiators, Community, and Social Development Experts (INCOS-DE) has concluded the induction and certification of executive experts and partners to help Nigeria access these global development grants.

Speaking at the ceremony in Abuja, Executive Secretary and CEO of INCOS-DE, Kunle Yusuff, said the funds were available for SDG and climate change initiatives. He, however, warned that many developing countries, including Nigeria, still lacked the capacity and expertise to access such funds.

Yusuff disclosed that over 345 global organisations were ready to support nations committed to improving citizens’ welfare. He added that between now and 2030, about $17.5 trillion had been allocated for climate change projects and nearly $15 trillion for SDG-related initiatives.

He emphasized the need for Nigeria’s federal, state, and local governments to develop the right expertise to benefit from these opportunities.

INCOS-DE, with federal government backing, has established partnerships with the Møller Institute, Cambridge; Liberty University, USA; the United Nations; and Merited Institute to strengthen training and global collaboration.
